JONESBORO, Ark. — An EF3 tornado struck Jonesboro, Arkansas Saturday, March 28, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. By some miracle, no lives were lost to the storm.
Perhaps the novel coronavirus — also known as COVID-19 — changed its tune and saved lives for a change, as most of the city was empty due to social distancing practices when the massive tornado tore through one of Jonesboro’s busiest areas. The potential death toll on a typical Saturday afternoon could have been staggering.

In the aftermath of the storm, several homes and commercial buildings are either partially or completely destroyed, including large parts of the Mall at Turtle Creek and the Jonesboro Airport. Countless families lost their homes and vehicles, but thankfully the number of reported injuries remains fewer than 30, with no reported deaths thus far.
